🎄 Our Favorite Holiday Traditions
In this edition, we’re sharing one of our favorite holiday traditions from childhood!
Ale’s: Every year, my grandma prepares the same dishes for Christmas Eve: pork loin, green pasta (Mexican espagueti verde), fruit salad, and turkey. For New Year’s, we usually buy tamales, and she makes pozole, which is very typical during the holidays in Mexico. One year, things were a little different. I was living with my brother in Playa del Carmen. I had just graduated from university and landed my first job away from my hometown, as a front desk receptionist at a five star hotel. Since I was the newest employee there, I had to work both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day (on the night shift). Because it was my first year away from home and my brother and I were both far from our family, he decided to stay as well. He actually organized everything and hired a service to cook these meals for both holidays. We invited a few friends over, including his now wife, and together we enjoyed a holiday dinner inspired by the dishes our grandma always makes. It wasn’t traditional in the usual sense, but it was special in its own way. Working from home truly is a blessing. It gives us the chance to spend more time with our loved ones and create, cherish, and make memories like these 🌲
Vale’s: One of my favorite holiday memories from childhood is how close and family oriented Christmas always felt at home. My family is small, but very close. Every year, we would all get together to eat my mom’s lasagna, which is honestly the best lasagna in the world. She only makes it for very special occasions like Christmas or birthdays, so we always looked forward to it. After dinner, we would gather around the Christmas tree to open our aguinaldos, as we call the gifts in Colombia. My grandfather would sit next to the tree and be the one in charge of handing them out. He would read them one by one, tell jokes, and make everyone laugh. It was a simple but very special night, full of warmth, laughter, and family 🎄
Meli B's: One of my favorite holiday traditions growing up was Día de las Velitas, which we celebrate every December 7th in Colombia. That night, my whole family would gather to light candles together, filling the house and sidewalks with little lights. We would melt the wax and make small wax balls while talking, laughing, and spending time together. It was a simple tradition, but it always felt magical and marked the true beginning of the holiday season for us 🤶
Juan’s: During the holidays in Ecuador, food plays a huge role in bringing families together. One tradition I remember fondly is enjoying seasonal dishes that only appear once a year, like pristiños served with sweet syrup. Preparing these meals and sharing them with my family always made the holidays feel warm and special 🎁

🎁 Meet our new team members!
![]() Manuela | Hi! My name is Manuela. I’m 29 years old and originally from Medellín, Colombia. I live with my mom, and together we share three dogs who are a big part of our home. In my free time, I love to read, go to the movies, and try new foods. I enjoy spending time with my friends and, especially, with my grandmother, whom I’m very close to. I also really like lifting weights and horseback riding. |
Hello! I’m so excited to join the team! I’m originally from Texas, with deep family roots in Mexico. I live in Austin with my husband and our almost two-year-old son. I’m passionate about anything involving music—dancing, singing, concerts, you name it! I’m also part of a neighborhood book club where we mostly dive into psychological thrillers, and I play tennis on Wednesdays. I love traveling, though it’s a bit trickier these days with a little toddler in tow. I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone on the team! | ![]() Aracely |
🎅 Personal Milestones
Agus': This year was especially meaningful for me on a personal level. On November 28th, we got married in a civil ceremony, followed by our church wedding and celebration on December 13th. We got married in Buenos Aires, Argentina, surrounded by our closest family and friends.
Throughout the year, we planned the entire wedding from afar, which was definitely a challenge—but also an incredibly rewarding experience. Being able to finally gather everyone we love and share such a special day together made it all worth it.
Our celebration took place at a venue called La Aguada, located in Luján, about an hour outside of Buenos Aires. It’s a beautiful countryside setting, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect place to celebrate such an important moment in our lives.
It was truly unforgettable, and we feel incredibly grateful for all the love we received!
